Mayor of the City of
Bundaberg
As Mayor of the
City of Bundaberg, I have great pleasure in
officially welcoming you to this diverse and
dynamic region.
Here, you can discover a great range of
activities and sights as different as they are
interesting. Bundaberg City, as the commercial
capital of the greater Wide Bay Burnett region,
offers a relaxed riverside lifestyle, with
tropical parklands, wide shady streets and
dynamic cityscapes, steeped in history.

The Bundaberg region features close proximity to
the seaside villages of the Coral Coast
(including the coastal centre of Bargara),
Woodgate Beach and the Discovery Coast
(including popular Agnes Water and the Town of
1770). Our country hinterland features
spectacular mountain ranges and wide plains,
weaving along the Burnett River and even to
Cania Gorge. |
An estimated 3.7
million trips are taking each year by people around
Australia with a physical disability, which translates
to an estimated 29.8 million visitor nights. We
understand that the significant issues faced by many of
these people are access to quality accommodation,
bathroom facilities and convenient car parking.
There are a number of
tourist, business and service operators in the Bundaberg
region who provide specific services or enhanced
establishments that cater for people with special needs,
and I believe you will find details on many of these
businesses in this guide.
More importantly, there is a growing recognition by
organizations like Bundaberg City Council and Bundaberg
Region Limited of the need to provide everyone,
especially those visitors and tourists who have a
special need or physical disability, with an enjoyable,
feature-filled and enrichening experience.
I wholeheartedly
encourage you to visit the Bundaberg region and utilize
the wide range of service providers listed in this
guide. I sincerely wish you a safe and enjoyable visit,
and hope you'll take time to discover Bundaberg in the
near future.
