Mayor Of the Burnett
Shire Council
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the
greatest shire, in the greatest state, in the
greatest country in the world! And this website
is just one of the many reasons why visitors
come to this region and never want to leave.
There is an
increasing acknowledgement of the access
requirements that many Australians face within
their own community and travelling and this
region is proud to be actively addressing these
needs. |

It is important that
organisations such as the Bundaberg Regional Access
Advisory Committee identify these issues and ensure that
Council and local business are developing in accordance
with these special requirements.
As the gateway to the
Great Barrier Reef, the Coral Coast is home to many
unique natural attractions. These include the annual
migration of whales cruising our coastline and the
nesting and hatching of Loggerhead turtles on Mon Repos
beach. Come in and visit the new accredited information
centre at Bargara where you can exclusively book your
unique turtle experience.
Our Coast provides a diverse range of experiences, from
our charming untouched natural hinterland to picturesque
sandy beaches of soft rolling waves, stretching from
Coonarr Beach in the south to the sleepy fishing village
of Winfield in the north.
This website is a great asset to the region and
encourages all – regardless of ability- to stay in this
region and enjoy the friendly facilities that we have to
offer. I hope that you too will take the time to
discover the Bundaberg and Coral Coast and find out why
we are proud to call this region home
