  • We are a not for profit organisation with a charity status run entirely by volunteers.
  • Bundaberg Sailability inc. is a community organisation dedicated to facilitating sailing for people with disabilities regardless of age, gender or their level of disability.
  • Our goal is to give people with disabilities the opportunity to make their dreams  a reality by achieving freedom on the water.
  • We foster freedom on the water regardless of ability.
  • We receive no government assistance and are totally dependent on donations of cash and equipment.
'Access' dinghies are our chosen boats, these are purpose-designed dinghies for disabled sailing. They are made in Australia and are available with seating for either one or two sailors. They are very stable, virtually impossible to capsize and are excellent sailing dinghies. There are now over 500 in use all over Australia.

Our sailors come from all walks of life, many had a professional career or other work, before an accident or illness reduced their capabilities, others were born with a disability. In addition, sailing for persons with disabilities provide a fun activity plus valuable therapeutic, recuperative and social benefit in a peer group that is excellent  for the personal growth of disabled sailors. We have many disabled sailors with a variety of disabilities, including accident, strokes, head injuries, severe illness, birth and intellectual disabilities plus blind and visually impaired persons. For quadriplegics, some paraplegics and blind we find the tandem dinghies essential  as they allow that type of disabled person to have time on the water in the company of a carer or instructor.

Sailability is  a rewarding and beneficial community service and one that offers a great deal of challenge to the sailors and volunteers. Volunteers are essential to Sailability plus volunteering can be a great part time interest for both retired or semi-retired men and women.
